We need to own up to our failures and wrong doings. Everyone falls short of God’s standards – check out the ‘big ten’ (the ten commandments). As Jesus explains them, we have all missed the mark. Getting honest with God about our condition and deciding it is time to turn from death to life is STEP ONE.

Having owned up to our ‘sin’, and made the decision to turn to God we demonstrate that we believe God exists, that he is good, and that he forgives all who turn to him. This believing his promises, that he will forgive all who turn to him in faith, is STEP TWO.

And STEP THREE is when we reach out and receive, by faith, the free gift of eternal life. He wipes the slate clean. He gives us a brand new start. He fills us with his Holy Spirit to empower us to live a life that is not shackled by sin and darkness.

If you are ready to give your life to Jesus, to turn from all you know is wrong and that is against his way, then pray this prayer – making it your own heartfelt intention…

“Lord, I have done wrong. I have lived my life my own way and failed to acknowledge you as God, my Creator. I have sinned and come short of your standards. I am truly sorry. I turn to you, Jesus, as my only hope. Please have mercy on me. Forgive me and cleanse me. And give me a new beginning. Restore my relationship with you and grant me eternal life. In faith I receive your generous gift of forgiveness. Thank you Lord Jesus for dying in my place. Thank you for saving me. Thank you for the new life you now give me. Please fill me with your Holy Spirit and help me live for you. Amen.”
