At Morrinsville Baptist Church we are in the process of clarifying our core values and exploring God’s view of our future. Our overarching desire is have such a quality of relationship with Jesus Christ that everything we seek to be and do will radiate his glory outward into our community. We want people to see his goodness, and experience first hand the quality of his life. We want to grow to spiritual maturity and be people through whom God can demonstrate his life and love in a needy world. We want to be fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ who help those around us encounter Jesus as a living reality. Our vision will be based on three things: our core values, our purpose, and our mission. * Our Core Values are helpfully defined as the A,B,C,D, E of Christian faith. Everything we do flows naturally from these. * Our Purpose defines why we exist and just who we are. * Our Mission is the clear goal that we are working towards and fully expect to achieve. Over the coming months we will define and clarify the specifics of our vision; our purpose and our mission, so that together we are clear about God's leading, guiding and will for us as a church family. Our Core Values: ALL INVOLVED Whatever the age, whatever the culture, whatever the gifts, we value everyone actively participating in our common life and mission. We believe in serving and supporting, giving and receiving, growing in gifts and skills, and encouraging a ‘can do’ attitude. We celebrate excellence, and expect grace in failure. We want boldness in faith, growth through experience and variety in expression. We look for generosity of spirit and gratitude of heart. BECOMING DISCIPLES We focus on Jesus and his teaching, using the bible as our benchmark. We expect truth to be applied practically and personally and to bring about fruitful lives. We see discipleship as whole of life. We preach Christ, inspiring people to follow him with whole hearts. We seek to be mature, fully devoted followers who apply the truth of God into every aspect of life. We welcome the enquiring mind, the open heart, the passionate spirit, the humble learner. CREATING COMMUMITY We aim to be welcoming and inclusive of all ages and backgrounds. We are relaxed and informal, and value the gifts of the Holy Spirit and integral to our worship and mission. We see hospitality as central to building community. We desire to be supportive, welcoming, creative, affirming diversity and unified in our common faith. We seek to love unconditionally, being open, honest, real and vulnerable. DOING MISSION In obedience to God’s word and under the leadership of God’s Spirit, we seek to be culturally relevant, and yet true to ourselves, our calling and who God has made us to be. Our emphasis locally is to alleviate poverty and be good news to our community. Through this foundation we seek to speak of the good news to others. Our emphasis globally is reach out to the poorest of the poor in the world and meet their immediate felt needs so that they may have the opportunity to encounter the God who cares for them. ENCOUNTERING GOD Through worship and community, and combining the power of the word of God and the Spirit of God we expect to encounter the living God in our daily lives and particularly whenever we meet together. We celebrate spontaneity, and welcome the gifts of the Holy Spirit. We look for a meeting of minds and hearts, a sacrifice of praise and worship and encourage a deep passion in Christ. |
