Phil was appointed as Senior Pastor on 14th September 2009. His primary responsibility is preaching and teaching, and the direction of the church. To aid communication in the church we post sermons and small group notes online. Phil is married to Diane and they have four adult children and two grandchildren. Together they spent 20 years serving God in England; 6 years with Youth with a Mission, 2 years forming a charity, and 12 years as Diocesan Missioner for the Anglican Diocese of Liverpool. In 1999 Phil was appointed inaugural honorary Chaplain to St Helens Rugby League Club, a position he held until returning to NZ in July 2009. From 2003-2006 he was chair of Merseyfest, the largest mission in Liverpool’s history. His main role in the diocese was to consult with churches and train leaders in church growth and new expressions of church.

He enjoys sports, but mainly by watching it on TV these days. He ran the London Marathon twice (1998 & 1999), and twice climbed Mt Kilimanjaro (Africa’s tallest mountain at 20,000 feet) to raise funds for charity in 2005 & 2006. He loves sea fishing, playing golf, and enjoys hot spas whenever he can.

Diane is gifted at hospitality and helps. Apart from being a devoted Mum and wife, she has a heart for the elderly. She cared for one elderly blind lady in St Helens for the last 10 years or her life. Di is a trained hairdresser and beautician, and loves making cards for those special occasions. She enjoys cooking and making people feel at home, and gets into gardening, scrap-booking, and socializing. "Leaving 3 of our 4 children behind in England (along with our grandchildren) was arguably the hardest thing we have ever done. And yet we have no doubts that God called us back to NZ for such a time as this."

We believe God is renewing and refreshing us as a church and moving us out in new forms of mission that will bring about positive change in the life of individuals and in society. Our prayer is very simply “your kingdom come, Lord, your will be done as in Morrinsville and region as it is done in heaven.”
