worldJesus told his disciples to "go into all the world and make disciples of all peoples..." This Great Commission is a command which should not be taken as an optional extra. As a church we believe God wants and expects us to fulfil this commission in our generation and to so so in a responsible manner.

In Luke 4:18-19 Jesus reads from the prophet Isaiah: "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour."

We are committed to being good news to the poor, to binding up the broken hearted, to loose the chains of injustice and set captives free. Mission is not the preserve of a few special people. It is at the very heart of who we are as the people of God. He is the Missionary God, and therefore we are to be a missional community.

To help maintain momentum and serve those already involved in world mission on our behalf, we have a Missons committe who meet monthly to pray and communicate with missionaries. Their objective is to:

1. Ensure greater communication with our missionaries, and be available to pray for them diligently.

2. Encourage people within our church family to pray for missions and to read the newsletters on the Missions Board

3. Present the church family with relevant information once a month (usually 2nd Sunday).

4. To inform the church leadership of significant develpments affecting our missionaries.

5. To explore various situations for future deployment of resources
