What are DiGs?

DiGs are at the heart of who we are and what we do. They are more than just mid week small groups—they are the primary way in which we grow in faith and express our common life and engage in outreach. They are mini-church, Christian community in the home or workplace or wherever they happen.

The word Community comes from the two words, Common – Unity. And DiGs are the primary way in which we demonstrate this. They are where real Christian maturity can develop; a place where caring, sharing, growing, giving out and supporting each other in our journey of faith happens.

Why DiGs?

We believe it is time to DiG in and become intentional about growing to mature faith AND engaging in realistic mission within our town and district.

The only realistic way to do this, as well as to pastor the people of our church properly is by multiplying the number of pastors! The only realistic way for people to grow in their gifts is by multiplying the number of opportunities to use them. And the only realistic way of sharing the good news of Jesus with our town and district is by multiplying the number of people and groups actively reaching out. DiGs are our way of achieving this.

It is a proven fact that those regularly involved in Christian small groups grow many times faster and have a greater sense of connection than those that just regularly attend the Sunday church service. Our faith is not an individualistic faith. It is meant to be experienced and expressed in community. DiGs provide the ideal way to do this.

What sort of DiGs are there?

We started with 10 DiGs in May 2011 and have a range of groups regularly meeting at different times and days during the week. Most are mixed in age and gender and some have a particular flavour in their outreach focus.
